Default Idiot question: how to retrieve log

I have done some logs trying to pinpoint my ls1 cars random dying at idle but can't seem to figure out how to retrieve the logs from my V2.

I opened the scantool and connected to the V2, I click on Flashscan menu and retrieve is not a selectable option.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Everything is up to date.

    download EFILive V8.1.2 Build 97
    http://www.efilive.com/index.php?opt...=48&Itemid=133

Then after you load v8 go under programs/v8/eflive explore and use that tool to get your log files.

    Hi Thunder,

+1 use EFILive Explorer (EE)... got the Data Files tab, the bottom pane is your V2, the upper pane is your PC.

Might want to also update V7 and V8 software to latest: July-20-2010-Pre-release

    V8 includes new firmware 2.6.36.

thanks guys, but in the explorer under the data files tab all the folders are empty...does this mean the logs didn't save?

I made sure to click the connect to V2 in the lower right corner and refreshed the list a couple times

Maybe the logs were lost during the software updates for some reason?

I went ahead and reformatted, redid the PID selection for BBL, updated firmware, and guess I'll try again

Is there anything else that needs to be set up for these to catch? I had said "saving as BBL000x" or something of the sort after each one...I was up to 8 or 9 of them.

When you updated the V2 firmware, if you format the [Data] space then the log files will be gone.

At the end of each logging session, are you pressing the Cancel button to terminate the log...?

I guess they were deleted during the updates, just got home and it worked great this time.

Thanks for the help and patience with a newb. It's so much more convenient logging without the laptop sliding all over the seat

    No problem

Yes, it is much more convenient... ...wait till you start using BBF (black box flashing).
