    Default V8 Pass-Through Reading Support (pre-release)

We've activated the pass-through reading mode in the V8 software. You can download the V8 software update here: V8 Pass-Through Pre-Release (18MB)

There have been a number of changes, most notably:

    • Look and feel of the V8 software has been updated.
      • The royal blue menus down the left side have been replaced with by menus with a more neutral tone.
      • The menu options have been animated to provide better feedback.

    • FlashScan/AutoCal firmware has been updated.
      • Latest firmware is V2.06.41
      • It has been updated to support more features required for the V8 pass-thru reading mode. After updating the firmware, you MUST update all the files in the [Config] file system to the latest ones provided with this V8.1.2.115 update.

    • Pass-through reading has been added.
      • Select the "F4: Calibration Tuning" option to start pass-thru reading.
      • Click on the [Auto Detect] button to allow EFILive to discover the programmable controllers that are available in your vehicle. If your controller is not recognized or mis-identified, right click on the shaded gray area to select the correct controller.
      • A green tick indicates the controller is selected and is supported by EFILive's V8 pass-thru reading mode. A red cross indicates that the controller is not supported by EFILive's pass-thru reading mode.
      • Click on the controller (engine or transmission) that you want to read.
      • Click the [Go] button to start reading.

    • Folder locations have changed.
      • Please backup any files that exist in the \ProgramData\EFILive\V8 folder that you do not wish to be deleted. This installation will only save the EFILive files from that folder before deleting it.
      • NOTE The folder \ProgramData\EFILive\V8 is specific to Vista and Win7. For WinXp/Win2K users the folder is called: \Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\EFILive\V8.
      • During the installation, the following folders/files will be moved:
      • \ProgramData\EFILive\V8 folder is MOVED to \Program Files\EFILive\V8 (then \ProgramData\EFILive is deleted)
      • \ProgramData\EFILive\V8\Config\*.txt files are MOVED to \My Documents\EFILive\V8\Config\*.txt
      • \ProgramData\EFILive\V8\Config\*.dat files are MOVED to \My Documents\EFILive\V8\Config\*.dat
      • \Program Files\EFILive\V8\Splash Screens folder is MOVED to \My Documents\EFILive\V8\Splash Screens

If you encounter any problems using any part of the V8 software, please post about it in this thread.

    Regards
    Paul

Just a short note, for people reading either the E39 ECM or E78 ECM we would appreciate you Emailing support the stock files you gather. We think we have all known OS's covered for when programming is released but we would like to make sure. Programming is tested and working on the bench, we will wait and see what things happen with the read only release at this stage, if all goes well, programming will be out very soon.

For anyone wondering about the LML release, no, it's not in here, hey it's a Bosch ECM, what more can we say.

And please let us know what you think about the new look and feel of EFILive V8.

The E39 ECM covers the following SIDI engines (LF1, LFW, LAF):
    2010 Buick LaCrosse 2.4L, 3.0L
    2011 Buick Regal 2.4L
    2010-2011 Cadillac CTS 3.0L
    2010-2011 Holden Commodore 3.0L
    2010-2011 Cadillac SRX 3.0L
    2010-2011 Chevrolet Equinox 2.4L, 3.0L
    2010-2011 GMC Terrain 2.4L, 3.0L

The E78 ECM covers the following engines (L96, LUJ):
    2011 Chevrolet Cruze 1.4L Turbo
    2011 Chevrolet 2500 Pickup 6.0L (L96 only)

    Thanks,
    Ross

Nope. Even after reading it from my V2, it still doesn't remember the list.

The pathname of the folder where the Options.txt is kept is now different...
try this: Read from V2, then Save to My Documents\EFILive\V8\Config, then restart V8.

If that doesn't work, then maybe try uninstall/reinstall.

It seemed to read my LBZ ECM fine, although the V8 tool thinks the OS and Boot Block are bad, but it was unable to autodetect the TCM. When I manually selected it, it gave a script error.

The error is normal (for the moment), Bosch ECM's don't allow full reading, we do some tricks in V7 to get all the OS info, that is not in V8 yet.
Are you able to please Email support your stock Allison file you will have read with V7? We probably just need to add more info to V8 so it see's the TCM. Not sure on the script error at this stage.
