Thumbs up E39 , E78 ECM tuning almost done

    Hi All,

Progress update time, E39 tuning has been successfully tested on a car this week. We haven't struck any problems at all in tuning this ECM so we anticipate it's public release late this week. As well as the E39, this week on vehicle tuning tests will also commence on the E78 ECM (2011 2500HD L96), we are confident this will go as smooth as the E39 has so expect it's release at the end of this week too.
Reflash times on these ECM's is just under 1 minute, but, for a cal flash it is programming almost 400K.

We have also reconfigured V8 to use a tabbed interface, much like the current Firefox or I.E use (see picture below). So we just need to tidy up a few things before release and before you know it you guys can be tuning these new models.

    Cheers,
    Ross

wow, there's lots of room for improvement in that tune.
    E85 is NOT flex fuel.

My time with the LF1 is almost done. I have to give it back to my friend today who has been away on business.
One thing is for sure, the factory tune in these cars does not suit the 91 octane fuel in Australia. I will ask him where he buys he's fuel, and don't return there, maybe it's just really bad fuel.
In the end I did a mix of 91 Octane and 98 Octane (about 40 / 60) and on the stock tune the knock was still there but nothing like the first pictures, the picture below shows this.
It still wanted a spark map more like the Cadillac SRX, not only did it go better, knock was almost non existent with the 91 / 98 fuel mix. Next month Holden release these with E85 capability, one of these running E85 would be very nice. Credit to GM, the LF1 is smooth as silk, can't wait for the twin turbo LF3 to arrive.

    Cheers,
    Ross

You bet, that was a log from a stock vehicle, but I am going to assume the fuel was not from a reputable supplier, rather a supermarket chain, I doubt Holden would release a cal like that on purpose.
