    Default November 22nd 2010 pre-release

The pre-release software is no longer available. Instead you can download the latest public release here:
    http://www.efilive.com/index.php?opt...=48&Itemid=133

Please remember to update the firmware in your FlashScan and your Customers' AutoCal devices to V2.07.03
Important: If your FlashScan/AutoCal device has previously been updated with a previous pre-release firmware V2.07.03, you will need to use EFILive_Explorer to program the updated firmware. The automated firmware update detection will not recognize the new firmware (as an update) because it has the same version number.

The firmware update also requires that you update all script files (*.obj files) that exist on your FlashScan (or your customers' AutoCal) devices. Failure to update the script files will result in error $050B Script file not supported by current firmware version.

The most convenient way to update the script files on your devices is to:

    1. Connect your FlashSCan or AutoCal device to the PC.
    2. Run the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software.
    3. Select the F5: BBX option.
    4. Click on the [Read] button to read the current setup of the attached device.
    5. Click on the [Program] button which will cause all outdated files to be updated.
    6. It is not necessary to save the BBX Options file after performing the above procedure.

If you receive error $0194, please use the "Format" option on the [Program] button between steps 4 and 5. Error $0194 usually means that the file system is full. Formatting the file system removes all unnecessary data.

This update contains fixes for most of the problems that have been reported in the previous pre-release software and firmware. If you have reported a problem and discover that it has not been fixed in this pre-release, please create a support ticket explaining the problem in detail here: http://support.efilive.com/

Known issues for the current release (these will be addressed in a future update).

    • P11 (4 Cyl 02-05) controllers are incorrectly auto-identified as P08 (4 Cyl 98-02) controllers.
    • AL5 pass-thru flashing shows up a small number of retries, AL5 BBF does not.
    • DMA PID's for the E39/E78 cannot be logged from V7 Scan direct, BBL is the only way to capture DMA PID's.
    • Full Flash and locking is not yet available for the E39 or E78.

    Regards
    Paul

the old firmware had the same number of the new one. I cheated the system by changing the name to 04 to make the new update.

However, I flashed, reflashed, logged LS1 successfully with no problems. I will get comments if I face any.....

    Good luck

Just an FYI; when we release a updated firmware but don;t increment the firmware version number you just use EFILive Explorer (Firmware tab) to install the newer firmware.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying . You just use EFILive Explorer to load in the updated (but same version) of the firmware.

There is a good reason that we don't update the firmware version number in pre-release software. If the newer firmware fails then you can go back to the older firmware because it has the same version number. If we increased the version number and it failed, then you would not be able to go back to the previous working firmware. The only way to tell the difference between all the pre-release firmware versions is by looking at the date. The most current V2.07.03 pre-release firmware should be dated Nov 22, 2010.

But you've got a good point, as part of the pre-release we should explain that you need to use EFILive_Explorer to update the firmware when the version number has not increased.
