    Default November 18th 2010 pre-release

This pre-release is beta level software. We've tested it in controlled environments, however there may still be some minor issues. You should only update/use this pre-release in environments where failure can be tolerated and/or recovered using other processes.

Some of you have asked and I presume many are wondering why the previous pre-release failed in multiple areas. There were a number of reasons; firstly I rushed back to work too soon after leaving hospital and was not operating at 100% (the pain killers were not helping rational/clear thought processes either). Secondly and probably more importantly, we made major changes to the core of the V8 software and FlashScan/AutoCal firmware to support the soon to be released Cummins diesel tuning features. Some of the changes we had to make for the Cummins support impacted on the existing controllers. Thank-you for being patient and rest assured we are doing everything we can to get this pre-release fully operational as soon as we can.

The V7.5 software is available here:
    http://download.efilive.com/Software....137_Setup.exe (90MB).
The V8 software is available here:
    http://download.efilive.com/Software....124_Setup.exe (18MB).
Please remember to update the firmware in your FlashScan and your Customers' AutoCal devices to V2.07.03

IMPORTANT: Updated firmware and obdiiv7.dll are available to fix LS1 data logging issues. The new firmware is V2.07.03 dated Nov 20, 2010 and the new obdiiv7.dll is build 138. After installing both V7.5 and V8 from the links above, download the attached zip file and unzip it into the folder: C:\Program Files\EFILive, overwrite existing files.

The firmware update also requires that you update all script files (*.obj files) that exist on your FlashScan (or your customers' AutoCal) devices. Failure to update the script files will result in error $050B Script file not supported by current firmware version.

The most convenient way to update the script files on your devices is to:

    1. Connect your FlashSCan or AutoCal device to the PC.
    2. Run the EFILive V8 Scan and Tune software.
    3. Select the F5: BBX option.
    4. Click on the [Read] button to read the current setup of the attached device.
    5. Click on the [Program] button which will cause all outdated files to be updated.
    6. It is not necessary to save the BBX Options file after performing the above procedure.

This update contains fixes for most of the problems that have been reported in the previous pre-release software and firmware. If you have reported a problem and discover that it has not been fixed in this pre-release, please create a support ticket explaining the problem in detail here: http://support.efilive.com/

Known issues for the current release (these will be addressed in a future update).

    • E78 controllers cannot be flashed using V8 pass-thru or V8 BBF.
    • LS1A is not auto-identified, you must right click and select it prior to V8 pass-thru reading.
    • P11 (4 Cyl 02-05) controllers are incorrectly auto-identified as P08 (4 Cyl 98-02) controllers.
    • AL5 pass-thru flashing shows up a small number of retries, AL5 BBF does not.
    • DMA PID's for the E39/E78 cannot be logged from V7 Scan direct, BBL is the only way to capture DMA PID's.
    • Full Flash and locking is not yet available for the E39 or E78.
    • AutoCal auto-locking is only available for the E38 controller, other controllers will have AutoCal auto-locking implemented soon.

    Regards
    Paul

    Worse on VX LS1
Scan does not connect at all now (previously connected after 1min and then worked fine)
Read hangs on detect TCM and then fails about 4 min later after trying to initialise the ECM?PCM

Those problems sound eactly like the ones that we have just fixed. Are you 100% sure that the installation was successful?
To be sure, please check the file date/time stamps on the following files:
    \Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\EFILive_Scan.exe
    \Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\EFILive_Tune.exe
    \Program Files\EFILive\V7.5\ObdiiV7.dll
    The dates/times should be Nov 18, 2010, at 05:40pm (or 05:41pm)

If you are confident that the correct *.exe is installed, can you please save a trace file using File->Generate error report.
Save the report and send it to me at paul@efilive.com

    Thanks,
    Paul

All three files show date 18/11 and time 17:40/1 and build 137 (same car we tested tonight works fine scan/tune with V1 - was also able to read using V8) - thanks Andrew
Will do tomorrow - nearing midnight here now (GMT+2)

One more thing to check (sorry if this sounds obvious) but have you updated the firmware in your FlashScan/AutoCal devices to V2.07.03?
Most of the fixes we made were not in the V7.5 software but in the FlashScan/AutoCal firmware.
