Default 08 gmc sierra three hour dpf regeneration

    Hi everyone

New to the forum and have only had my lovsæt duramax for 4 months.

I have totten a problem that is that the truck is regenerating the dpf for like three hours. It has just killed 33% Oil life ón one regeneration.
I drove on highway for atleast an hour and a half. Does antons have any idea why it is doing this. The truck is Stock with Banks air intake and Banks exhaust dpf back.

Thanks I hope someone Can help it is costing a fortune in Oil and diesel

hi thanks for the fast reply. Yeah I have thought of that also, just seem strange that it has not given any error messages or something. It is cold here these days maybe temperature can affect it. have also noticed that it smells more than normal when regenerating. Hmmm please fell free to come with your ideas.

Have thought of removing that dammm filter.... but still something is off.

thanks and have a good weekend.

How many miles are on the truck? Has it always taken this long?

It has 50600 miles on it, no it seemed like it regenerated a lot faster this summer when I bought it.

You still have a warranty, so I would take in honestly. That's unless you just want to do away with it and use EFILive and reprogram the computer to tell it your DPF is not there.

Once you tune the truck, you warranty will probably be voided though, just keep that in mind.

I took the DPF off of my fathers 2010 LMM and he loves the difference.

HEHE well GMs warranty does not count here in Europe so that is not an issue. The store/seller I bought the car from is willing to try look at it however trouble is there at 4 of these truck here in Denmark. Therefore noone here really knows about these lovely cars when trouble like this is a issue.

A friend of mine had a silverado witch he had pulled the pdf off on and he was very happy with it. He then tuned his car with ppe race +300 it was fresh ;-)

My thought is that something must be wrong since it is behaving as it is.

Oh yes it does make a difference. If you're not worried about warranty and GM won't help you over there then I would suggest to delete it and tune it. Problem solved, I believe the filter needs a hand cleaning otherwise.

I'm not entirely sure, I've heard of dealers doing this though.
