Default EFI LIVE Tables vs HPT Tables

I am trying to compare trans tables from EFI Live to HP Tuners.

I m no tuner just trying to learn so here goes.

I have a friend who is 2 hours away and uses HPT and is trying to help me setup my trans tables on my 2000 Silverado with built4L65E trans with my EFI Live software.

I Like the way the tables are layed out in HPT, im new to using the gas side of EFI Live ( been playing with my DMAX) LOL

My EFI live trans table reads different compared to HPT,

EX-- My 2-3 Base Trans pressures in EFI Live read up tp 472 deliverd engine Torque FT LBs.

Where as in HP Tuners they read up to 640 Delivered engine FT LBs.

I want to try a set of values that are in HPT and apply them to EFI Live so i can load them, I only have EFI LIVE/ licensing.

Thanks for the help!!!!! The more i mess around the more im learning, its fun but frustrating at the same time ! LOL

There is a table conversion tool in the tune.exe

Copy and paste with labels to create a new table then transpose the table.
Paste the table data from HPT in the new table and
transpose it once more to copy and paste to the EFILive table.

    Hello Tim Z,

Comparing the available tables in EFILive and HPTuners is a bit like comparing “apples & oranges” as the cliché goes. Both of them will get the job done, but each may do it a little differently.

    In your 2000 Silverado tune:
    • the reference to 640 Ft-Lbs is probably the maximum engine toque allowed by the TCS (if equipped) - B1901
    • not to be confused with maximum torque by gear - 1280 Ft-Lbs (B6611)
    • the shift Base Pressure tables (D0701, D0702, D0703) do top out in EFILive at 472 Ft-Lbs of delivered engine torque – but you should be at maximum pressure well prior to this value – having the table go any higher is somewhat redundant

If you choose to use EFILive to tune your 4L65, you should be pleased with the final result. There is an excellent (and directly applicable) transmission tuning tutorial by Joecar on this Forum.

In my experience, transmission setups are somewhat individual and unique. Rarely are 2 transmissions exactly the same - especially when using a “built” transmission. Additionally, the vehicle weight, engine power output, and “shape” of the power output curve dramatically effect how the shifts will feel from the drivers’ seat.

Also, different people prefer a different “shift feel” – this is the custom component of the tuning process.

No one tune will be universally appropriate. I would encourage you to “roll up your sleeves” and develop your own custom transmission tune.

    Regards,
    Taz

Thankyou Gentlemen for the great replys!!!!

Yes, im going to use my EFI live software to adjust the trans settings in my tune for my 2000 silverado.

I am only "playing around" with HPT as this is the software my friend has had for the 6 years`he's had his 04 Sierra Denali.

So he's trying to help me adjust my settings, but is very unfamiliar with EFI Live, and he is trying to help me make changes , hence me asking this question here lol.

Our trucks are both ECSB's 6.0 engines, both blown with 10 psi, both similar cammed and stalled, and same trans builder, so i thought his settings/pressures would be great to start with as i like the way his shifts.

Thankyou guys again for the help, im going to ' roll up my sleeves now" lol.

I play with the Diesel side of EFI Live, now i need to learn the gas side.

Instead of trying to copy the table exactly, ask your friend what he changed? For example, did he increase the line by 10% or how did he make his changes? I use EFI & HPT, you can do the same thing with both but sometimes the same table like you mentioned may have some differnt limits or small other differences. They will sometimes not have the exact same table name but for a 2000 silverado they will be really close. Almost all your tables are going to be laid out opposite of your friends with HPT, the axis are flipped for the most part so keep that in mind if your comparing something. I agree with what was said before about each trans being differnt, I had many exact copies of my built 4l60e that I came up with and sold by the same builder and all of them required differnt tunes. They were all close but I still had to go in and adjust the tune for each car or truck to get them right.

Excuse my inquisition but is this table conversion equivalent to a complete scan & copy of the whole tuning profile?

mr.prick is talking about the table transposer... i.e. it swaps the axis's of any table you paste in it.
