    Default Issues Reading a E38 ECM (2007.5 4.3L)

    Hey Guys,

Today I was trying to read the ECM and the computer would not communicate with the V2 no matter what I did. The truck is 100 percent stock with no remote starter or absolutely any modifications to it. I tried disconnecting the battery and rebooting the ecm that way, to no avail however.

I am running Build 133 currently (didnt want to update after hearing the LLY issues)

    Boot Block 2.06.03
    Firmware 2.06.41

Here is a copy paste from the command window

It then give me an error that the bootloader was rejected and some possible reasons (RPM, VSS are not 0, or a memory fault was detected.

I was just curious as to what needs to be done to be able to read this ecm (if possible).

    Thanks for your time,

    Mitch

Mitch, I think you'll find that vehicle is using an E37 ECM.

    Cheers,
    Ross

You might want to consider upgrading to the V8 software for reading and flashing ECM's. It will auto detect the ECM type and on the CAN ECM's is significantly faster than V7. About 1:50 to read an E37 and 23 seconds to flash it.

No kidding V8s faster, full flashed my T42 in under a minute! Cal flash was about 16-18sec!

13 seconds is the best I've seen from the T42 on a cal flash.

You do get very spoiled by the speed (and size) of the T42 When the Fast CAN mode was implemented I actually did it a couple of times to make sure it wasn't a problem.

No kidding, I cant go back to V7.5 now when V8 flashes in about half the time.
