Converting a HPT to an EFI Live file?

Is it possible to convert a tune done with HPTuners to one for an EFI Live OS?

I can get a tune that is near perfeect for my car but it is done with HPTuners and I only have EFI Live software on my laptop. I'm reallly just wanting to use this tune as a base so I can get the car running and then I'll be getting it fine tuned on the dyno and the track.

Strictly speaking it is not possible to convert files; neither software application can recognize the others file format. The only way you could potentially do something (and this assumes that the HP Tuners tune is not one of their Custom Operating Systems, and that the ECM remains unlocked) is to have the HP Tuners calibration flashed into your ECM and then read it out with your EFILive.

Is there a way to know if the ECM is unlocked and it's not a custom OS? Or is it basically, try and find out at this point?

Typically a stock ECM OS number will begin with a 12xxxxxx number. Commonly a custom OS will begin with some other sequence which is the most obvious indication that it is not a stock OS. However because you cannot load the HPT file in EFILive you may not know this OS # before it is installed. Equally, you can't really know if it will be ECM locked either.

I guess as long as the person using HPT is friendly if it does turn out to be a Custom Os or locked they can revert to the previous calibration for you.
