    Default 2008 silverado 4.3 V6 mileage?

My neighbor has an 08 Silverado RC/SB 2wd with the V6. He is getting 12-13mpg right now and is wondering if there is anything tune wise that he can do for better mileage? It is mostly city driving, but I'm thinking it should still get better than that. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes. Tranny stuff helps a little (quicker shifting, etc...) about 1%. Also if it is properly tuned with a wideband and EFILive it will get MUCH better mileage. There are also several "tuning for economy" topics around here, so start there. With those kind of numbers, he could have gotten a V8 and save fuel. Maybe check tire pressures and alignment. Or someone is stealing fuel at night lol... I think it just needs a tune

How many miles does it have? I'm guessing there are a lot of contributing factors to his fuel mileage. Maybe maintenance (air filter, MAF sensor cleaning, plugs, etc..), driving characteristics, and tuning will help a little as well.

It only has about 40k on it. I need to ask him about the FF. He is pretty good about maintenance I think. Where would be a good place to look for tunes for it. I have a Duramax, but I'm still a rookie at tuning. I'm thinking gas motors may be easier to tune than diesels, or am I wrong?
