Now that your able to tune the black box ecus is it worth it to put a 411 ecu in my truck? Also does anyone know what would need tweaking if I was to start with a 5.7 base cal to run my 305?

What are you trying to do with this truck? If its an engine swap and then you plan to put a cam, heads, headers, intake, or a blower/turbo/etc then Id say dont think twice and do an 0411 PCM swap. Much more powerful and flexible than the Black Box PCM is.

I recommend people to look at it first, if your intentions are to mod the engine down the road then buying a $99 license for the Black Box PCM now and another $99 license for the 0411 PCM in 6 months, for less than the cost of that Black Box PCM license you can buy and swap to an 0411 PCM. Now you have COSs available and the much higher table resolution the LS1 PCM offers.

I have intentions of putting the 67mm turbo I have layin around on it and testing out the bottom end strength one of these days. So what your saying is, there are no COS for the black box ecus huh. Was there ever a exppress van with a 305 in it? or am i going to have to use a 5.7 tune and mod it to work with my 305? for right now all I really wanna do is turn off the ses light from the removal of the cats, and setup the electric fan controller. But it sounds like a 411 swap is in the near future.

Nope, no COS for black box PCMs. Do an 0411 upgrade, no question about it. You'll use an 02 Express Van OS (on TuneFileDepot.com) then modify the cylinder size to match your 305's displacement. Then tune it.

Just remember you'll burn 2 licenses if you license the black box PCM now then do the 0411 swap in the future. Not worth it IMO unless you've already installed the efans, even then the Black box PCM cant run them anyway.
