Yes correct... SD uses engine speed and the density of air to compute cylinder airmass.

Was just trying to read up on mafless tuning only to find little on it. Speed density is more talked about!!! It seemed the likely answer but still !!!

Well on that same line of thought... As im looking at staying in SD mode am i right in saying I need to really need to used a customOS for better controll due to ensuring the use of both octane tables?

Ontop of that because the calc.VE process useless noe how is best to sort out the tuning on low MAP preasure? Will copius logging on Auto VE slowly rectify this low end to a good level?

If you are staying SD and want both Octane tables, then yes a COS is the way to go.

Whatever method you end up Tuning with (AUTOVE in this case), you will find certain areas more difficult to tune. As far as the low MAP areas, those are usually hit when you have had a WOT run, then let off the throttle. Yes, it can be hard to hit those areas, but the good news is in some ways it really does not matter. At low MAPS with no throttle, there is very little load on the engine. The injector flow is sometimes at its minimum anyway. So you really do not need that much fuel.

So I am saying, don't worry too much about those areas.

Sometimes the best advice and way to learn is to just start Tuning.

The cells in the VE table that matter are the ones you hit...

to get the other cells you can extrapolate (using hand/eye methods) so the VE table looks continuous with no spikes/holes/steps (altho mild smooth ripples/ridges are ok);

you shouldn't have to do many iterations of AutoVE (or any other method);

what wideband do you have...?

what FlashScan do you have, V1 or V2...?

what year/model/vehicle...?
