    Default ecm errors out

Installing efi live in a friend's truck and read his current file and saved it in v8. Not knowing better tried to flash his truck back in v8 and it just kept going and going . I talked to Brayden at Fleece and starting getting somewhere and then tried full flash in v7.5 and kept erroring out. It says ECM is in unknown state. I have tuned alot of dmaxes and had same problem before. I took off the batteries and pulled almost all the fuses and keep getting the same thing. this is what I get:

Firstly, you can't flash a Cummins using V7.5, it is not supported. Only V8 can flash a Cummins.

Just for your info, the line:
    18:03:51.062: Bootloader version: P_59_v1.9F (09FC-EBB2)
Shows that V7.5 is attempting to reflash an LS1, which is the default controller if the ECM type of the currently loaded file cannot be determined by the V7.5 software.

Anyway, back to V8 flashing the Cummins. When you attempted to flash the Cummins and it just went on for ever, a trace file would have been saved by the V8 software.
Can you please locate that trace file? It will be in the folder called: \My Documents\EFILive\V8\Trace and it will be named something like this: CMB_F_20110603_155239.htx
Where the two groups of numbers are the date (YYYYMMDD) and the time (HHMMSS) that the flash was attempted.

Please send that file (or all files in the trace folder if there aren't too many) to me at paul@efilive.com

    Regards
    Paul

Is it possible that your truck had a hand-held tune in it prior to you reading it out with EFILive?
If so that is most likely the cause of the problem. Some hand held tuners do not return the controller to stock even when they are commanded to return to stock.
Which means the tune that you read out of the (no longer stock) controller cannot be flashed using EFILive.

You must flash in a stock tune using EFILive to return it to 100% stock. You can obtain stock tunes here:
    http://www.tunefiledepot.com/index.p...Type=D&Stock=Y

If that is not the case, i.e. there has been no hand-held tune in your truck (that you know of), please send me the file that you read from your truck.
That way we can see if the tune file has a problem that is preventing from being flashed.

Download a matching file from the web site I gave and flash it in using V8.

Then using V7.5 Scan Tool, change the VIN to match your truck's VIN so you can start it.
In V7.5 Scan Tool use the menu option: Bidirectional -> Change VIN...

You need to click on the "Connect" button (round green button at top left) and select the CMB controller.
Once connected, you can change the VIN.
