Default 2001 '0411 reflash OS to '02 12212156 now wont start-

I reflashed my 4.3 V6 from 12208322 to 12212156 and now the motor won't start. I read the PCM first then reflashed the new OS. All seemed fine but won't start. I have seen this before but can't put my finger on it. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Good times!

    Bruce

    - read back from PCM and save to file,
    - edit file and fix any out-of-range cells (including A0012, A0013),
    - look thru all tables for sane values and fix the insane ones,
    - cal only flash.

Those are important, make sure that all the Axxxx tables and B3647 contain sane values.

OOR: make sure you get rid of the blue dogear corners.

I think so, I reread the tune and it seems to have taken it, the new OS with my old vin is there and no differences when I compare the two tunes. The reflash was framed in red warning of the reflash which I had never seen before, but never have changed OS before either. I'm charging the battery now as I just got back to the states and it was dead but I charged it over night when I got in and it seemed strong but it pulled down fast when cranking and always starts up almost instantly after reflashing with the old OS. I'll try a re-reflash after it is re-recharged!

That is great information! The reason I'm changing the OS to 12212156 is for the COS5 eventual app. But first I need to get the new OS working. I'll keep reading!

I found one thing....Low Resolution Crank is "Yes" on the Vehicle Platforms Options of my old OS so I'll switch that to YES on the '02 12212156 OS and reflash to see if that makes things work.

    Good times!

Is the 12212156 OS tune you are trying to flash from a 4.3 L V6 ?

    All 4.3 L V6 (and 5.0 L & 5.7 L Vortec) feature low resolution CKP sensors - 3x on the V6, and 4x on the V8. Gen III V8 OS use a non-low resolution CKP (24x).

Ok...The Low Resolution Crank change didn't do it. I re-reflashed the new OS with the Low Res change in it, and still no joy on the starting...fuel pressure powers up and is ok, just won't start. Do I need to do a crank re-learn? There is the message that CKP learn can be done with Scan tool. Do I need to do this? Thanks!

Yes from a 4.3....and it didn't have the low res set in the parameters so I changed to "yes" on the 12212156 tune I found on Holden's repository and shows for the S-10 in the vin/model section. Do I need to do a re-learn?

When you select Full Flash (Cal & OS) - and the "Red" screen appears - the 3rd tab is "CASE" - if the engine and PCM were originally from the same vehicle (like yours) - then you can select the "Preserve CASE data - No CASE relearn required" option. In other words, if you are simply Full Flashing an existing engine / PCM combination - the existing CASE data is accurate.

If you failed to select this option, then a CASE learn is required. The engine needs to be running (and at normal operating temperature) to initiate the CASE learn function.

The engine should still start and run prior to the CASE learn.

What year / make / model / trans are you working with ?

    Taz
