Just to give some thought, in the part throttle areas, under 20 mm3, decrease boost, and increase timing.

Also suggest playing/reducing pilot injection timing, (2 and 3 off).

So I am a gas guy.. Decrease boost. Would you need to pull some fuel out also besides the Pilots? And what about post injections?

Mileage is all about efficient power, too much power is a waste, and too little power causes your engine to work harder. Pulling fuel besides the post/pilot injections won't do much of anything except turn your truck into a dog....

Timing and boost are your biggest contributors, a lot of guys recommend pulling some boost but personally I've never had any luck with that....

Reducing restrictions in your airflow system has the same effect as lowering boost without the potential loss of response, the easier the air flows the less friction and heat is generated in the motor, and the components don't have to work so hard to make power. You're able to flow more air volume @ same boost pressures.

That's just a quick reference, hope it helps some!
