Default Gauge cluster dies when FlashScan V2 is connected. (tested in two cars)

I received my scan/edit tool a few days ago on a 2007 Chevy Cobalt (2.2L). Upon trying to connect it to my 2007 I find that the Gauge cluster goes to zero (temperature, RPM, speed, etc) and the lock icon is displayed. This is irrespective of whether my notebook computer is plugged into the USB bus of the V2. I tried connecting it to a second vehicle (a 2007 HHR) and have been able to duplicate the same problem.

I could really use some assistance here. I believe this may be a firmware bug because if I connect my laptop to the vehicle, I can get all PID parameters as they are being scanned, but the gauge cluster remains dead as well as the lock icon being displayed on the gauge cluster.

    Both vehicles have E-37 VCMs.

    Default Update.

I have now confirmed that the problem does NOT occur in a 2007 Sky Redline and also a 2000 Blazer.
