4L80E/85E is a different design than the 4L60E/65E/70E...
compare these two threads:

[ The 4L80E/85E is the electronic update (and adding overdrive) of the old 3 speed THM-400 ]
[ The 4L60E/65E/70E is the electronic update of the old 4 speed 700-R4 (which is different than the old 3 speed THM-350) ]
The 3-2 solenoid found in the 4L60E is not a shift solenoid... it controls the fluid exit rate from the 3rd accumulator (which is the 2/4 servo unstroking/releasing the band on the 2-3 upshift)... i.e. the 3-2 solenoid controls the rate of band apply on the 3-2 downshift (it's proper name is 3-2 control solenoid);
GM eliminated the 3-2 solenoid on later 4L65E and all 4L70E (I'm reasonably sure, but can someone verify this).
You can safely ignore it when wiring to the 4L80E connector.
