    Default DVT Time out.....

Does anyone know what controls the scan tool "DVT time out" on E40 and E38 computers? When using it to find MBT it cuts out after anywhere from 10sec to 1 min which makes tuning a lot more time consuming when you need to start and stop all the time.

Is it something that is hard programmed into the ECU or is decided buy the scan tool? Is there a way around it at all?

    Thanks.

It's an error code back from the ECM, there is timers in the ECM to control how long certain DVT functions can remain active.
I no longer monitor the forum, please either post your question or create a support ticket.

    Thanks,
I had a feeling that would be the case, so I would assume there is no way around it? Have you looked into removing it via software or can it not be done?

Could a clever electronics person remove it on an ECM to develop a Road Runner type computer for spark timing, I know I would buy a few for the deferent operating systems I see as it would make life much easier.
