Does anyone know if I can just tap into that wire so I can get a Temp. signal for an Autometer gauge?
I really don't want to drill a hole in the oil pan weld an aluminum fitting for the temp sensor...

Hello Gameover,
The TFT sensor in the transmission has an analogue output. An output of 0V = 304 F (151 C). An output of 5V = -40 F (-40 C). The PCM interprets this output and then sends a serial data message to the IPC, which controls the TFT gauge.
The Autometer gauge would need to be compatible with a 0 to 5 volt sender output - to use the OEM TFT sensor.

Taz
Thanks Taz....

what transmission are you putting it in? I have my temp sender screwed right into the pressure test port on my 4l60e. Its already taped for a 1/8 npt GM!
edit: i see now you have a 4l80e, same thing you still have a 1/8 npt pressure test port on the drivers side
