    Default Replacing a 6L80 with a 4L80 in pontiac G8 - E38 controller

    Hi,

    Looking for any advice on best direction to go with ECM's, BCM's, trans controllers, wiring changes etc to get a 4L80 to work in place of a 6L80 in a pontac G8.

    Old setup:
    early 2009 pontiac G8 Gt; 6L80; E38 ECM; 6.0 liter;

    new setup: 434 LSX, F1 procharger, RPM 4L80E, ---

    not sure on best way to make work considering the ECM, BCM, trans, and wiring changes for shifter, etc... can I use E38 in car now?... original thought was to make ECM think it is a manual and leave TEHCM plugged in (wired to trunk); and use new trans controller for 4L80... doesnt seem to like it and doesnt link all up... and not sure on wiring...
    any basic thoughts to detailed thoughts would be awesome!!! everything is in car and ready to go.. now issues...

    thanks for any input....

    Somehow you would have to get a T42 TCM to work with your ECM and vehicle.

    I believe L76 (6.0 L) equipped G8 GT used ECM OS 1264402 (E38) in both 2008 and 2009. This appears to be a Holden based OS - and does not appear to be common in North American build vehicles. The G8 GXP (LS3) used a different OS.

    As I understand it (not a Gen IV expert) to make the switch to an A4 from an A6, you will need to find a vehicle using the same ECM OS as yours, but that was originally equipped with an A4 - and then import the system segment. This is not without risk / addition issues - like throttle body compatibility, etc.

    Regards,
    Taz

    I do not think that getting a T42 TCM to work with your ECM and vehicle is a simple process. When you complete this step, pls share with people how to do and your results as well. OK?

    That was my point ("somehow")... see what Taz said above.
