    I'm swapping a Cummins 6.7 into an F350.

    I need to use Live EFI to control the engine, to remove security, handle the deletes, etc.

    So I bought a very low mileage Cummins 6.7. It arrived without an ECM and without a wiring harness.

    It was supposed to be an 09, ie CM2100. According to QuickServe, my engine is model year 2010 and its supposed to have a CM2200 ECM. In the mean time, I have bought a CM2100 ECM from an 08. I checked Quickserve and the part number for the injectors on the 2010 engine is different than the part number for the injectors the engine the CM2100 ECM came from.

    It gets better.

    I've been deliberating what transmission to use behind the 6.7 for a while now. For a number of reasons, I've settled on the 68RFE, subject to finding a good rebuild kit for one.

    On the 08 trucks with CM2100 ECMs, the transmission is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module and nothing else. And the PCM does nothing but control the transmission.

    On the 2010 trucks with the CM2200 ECMs, it is my understanding that the transmission is controlled only by the Cummins ECM. This would make swapping a 68RFE into my F350 significantly easier.

    So... I have 2 options.

    Option #1. Put a CM2100 wiring harness on my 2010 engine and run the CM2100 ECM. Get a PCM to control the 68RFE and wire it up.

    Option #2. Put a CM2200 wiring harness on my 2010 engine and buy a CM2200 ECM and sell the CM2100 ECM. I don't need to buy a PCM.

    What would you do ? I need this thing running in May or June to pull my trailer. I don't want to pull anything with the 6.4 and 5R110 because I don't trust Ford powertrain stuff.

    What is the earliest a CM2200 will be running Live EFI ? What does it take to get on the beta list ?

    I doubt there would be any chance we would have anything for the CM2200 PCM in time for your conversion.

    Don't get me wrong, we appreciate the work you do.

    What do you think of running the CM2100 ECM on my 2010 engine ?

    Sorry I don't know what differences there is mechanically between the year models.

    The CM2100 should fire the CM2200 injectors just fine. As far as a trans goes if you're planning on making power with it put a Allison behind it with a stand alone TCM.

    Do you know if the injector harnesses are the same from the CM2100 engines to the CM2200s ? Ie, will an 08 harness work on my '10 engine ?

    I've given up on the 68RFE. Its going to get a 6R140. Stay tuned.

    THe CM2100 and CM2200 engines have different injectors.

    My 2010 engine, CM2200 ESN 57883235 (2010 6.7, manual) has injector part number 5253220.

    The CM2100 ECM I have came from ESN 57772551 (early 08 6.7 auto) has injector part number 4940095.

    Do you still think the CM2100 ECM will fire them fine ? I suspect the CM2200 injectors flow a bit more as they are the injectors used in the 800 ftlb engines.

    If the only thing that changed was injectors (flow rate), you should be able to tune that part out by adjusting the pulse widths for a given rack (mm^3).

    The big trick on some of the GM stuff is that all the "other stuff" also changes between years. other stuff = communication with other modules, necessary data links, number of teeth on speed timing wheels, etc.. This is what prevents or hampers model year swaps.

    At this point, as long as you can keep either ECM happy, just grab what will run what you want, and adjust the tune as necessary to account for the different injectors.
