Conversion of 1mb pcm to 512kb pcm? What is needed?

I thought i put this here since there are no more 1mb pcm RRs available and because of the COS5 that is important for this conversion.

I read somewhere here that the only thing needed was to change the plastic green cover to blue and to ground the O2 heaters, shut off the codes for the heaters and that was it?

I can't find that post and this would serve for future reference.
