    Default Ethanol Fuel

I just got a tank of 10% Ethanol Fuel and did a few logs. Using a PLX wideband the AFRs which i display in AFR seem to have leaned out by about 2% . What do i do - do i tune for the same number again in AFR i.e. add more fuel in the VE table.

What i have done so far is add 3% across the whole map. At the moment the fuel is about a 75% mix of Boost 98 (10% ethanol) and 25% Normal Caltex Vortex 98. ....So i guess its Stoich is around 14.25 so it should be about 2.6% leaner...but once i fill again with the Ethanol Fuel this will change to 14.13 and 3.4% leaner overall.

You could run one of the 2002 US O.S's with the Ethanol correction tables......get the special sensor they use......ahh, no, just drive past Shell to BP and buy Ultimate instead.

    Cheers,

    Default Tune

I have done the research and it is my bet that Boost 98 is better than Shell Extreme.

The tunes dont look like they need to be that different - first run yesterday with my latest best Caltex Vortex 98 tune
the car logged at WOT did as lean as 13.2 between 4400 and 6100 but recorded no knock retard. So it seems like a good thing.

Interesting - I wonder if it would be possible to use E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) in these cars, with the proper tuning.

    Naw, never mind....

Ross, can you please elaborate on the special sensor a little more ? Is it a special 02 ? How does the OS know when you are on Ethanol vs. Petrol ?
