    Default 0411/E38 Conversion ?

Tried searching for any info on converting over to E38 from a 0411. Besides 58x and 4x sensor swap, Im having a hard time finding info on what to or not to expect for this swap.

This will be a SD tune, no 02s and running a th400 and 98 camaro cluster.

Any help or direction to any thread would be awesome help. Thanks in advance.

Not sure why you are interested in changing to an E38 controller - most want to do the reverse. The usual reason to update to an E38 is to use an A6 (6L80/90) transmission - but are using a non-computer controlled transmission - essentially a manual tune.

I don't have schematics for a 1998 Camaro - rarely work with an LS1-A PCM. Looking at 2002 Camaro IPC schematics - things like the fuel gauge, tach, and many warning lights / message centre - are controlled via Serial Data communication with the PCM. The E38 won't support these functions - it is GMLAN (canbus) only.

To make everything work, you would end up requiring a PCM (LS1-A or LS1-B) to operate the 1998 Camaro IPC (gauge cluster) and an ECM (E38) to operate the engine.

You would need a your existing harness and PCM, plus a stand alone harness and ECM, plus the 58x CKP, 4x CMP, compatible APP (gas pedal) and TB - as E38 is DBW only.

A pile of work (and money) just to run the engine - which you are already running.

    Regards,
    Taz

Going off of Taz, what car is this actually for? If its a 98 Camaro, you're much better off buying an 0411 LS1B PCM and swapping that. It will be much quicker and easier, plus you wont have to run 2 PCM/ECMs to keep all of your stock functionality.

Thanks for replying. The car was already on the o411. Did the swap a few years back. The car sees more track then street and figured Id see a better window tuning SD. Im waiting for an DFI to work out some bugs w/ COP so I had the 58x pressed on. Really need to control timing per hole. I guess the only gauge id like to keep is fuel. ECT, GEN, OP are all up regardless and a drak should work VSS. I already have the E38 figured Id re pin and change CK CM sensors while rebuilding the motor.

    Appreciate the info.
