    Default Copying tunes

With the efi live tool, are you capable of copying a tune that is already been installed into to a vehicle? For example on a 08 dodge 6.7l, it has a h&S tune installed into computer already, and if i wanna use this as a start point for tuning am i able to copy that tune file with a v2? thanks!!

It depends how the programmer does its thing. Some use unique op systems that don't touch the factory files EFILive uses. Best thing to do is purchase a tune from a good tuner with their permission to modify it. That way you're starting off on the right foot with no ghosts in the background.

Typically H&S locks the ecm from being read out, like we can with EFI.

Its to protect their/our tuning integrity.

You won't find many of us that are fans of doing that. It's one thing to look at tunes as a learning tool, but it's generally frowned on to use others work.

There are a few posers that have gotten caught doing that and lets just say the level of respect isn't there for them. They know who they are.....so do we.

Morals aside, sometimes the tunes that are read out after a handheld has tuned the ECM aren't 100% complete, it's always best to start with a stock tune.
