I know it can be done but can't find out how. How do I set up my home computer so I can work on tunes on it and just use my laptop to flash the car.

All you should really need to do is have EFILive installed on both home and laptop computer. Then simply copy the tune file between systems, using network if you have that setup, or just a USB storage drive, floppy disk etc.
