Took the new 80E out for a drive and by the time I was back home (about a 20 mile loop on flat terrain, ambient 82*F) I had the Hot Trans message pop up. This 11" converter is supposed to have a stall speed of 2600 RPM or less and the trans is setup for full time 200 PSI.
I did find that the TCC was constantly locking/unlocking in cruise.....it unlocked anytime the TP started to decrease. I could see no way to correct that in the tune which had stock TCC tables, so I replaced the trans segments again and the TCC is behaving normally. I also found that the fan on my trans cooler was not kicking in, so I wired it to run full time.
I did a trans log today and it was still heating up. (see attached)
A few things I noticed in the log:
1. The amount of TC slip at WOT - see around frames 6200 and 9300
2. TC slip even when locked if TP goes over 40% - look around frame 5820.....I had the tune set to release anytime TP hits 60%
3. TIS and TOS are equal in 4th gear with the TCC locked, and TIS is > Engine RPM - see frame 7540.......Could this be correct?
