Default Engine stalling at idle in open loop only

    Hey everyone,

I have just signed up and wondered if anyone could help out. I have just tuned a car which is a WH statesman cam only with a 224 232@112LSA. The car has the stock throttle body and it idles fine except when you first start the car up and the car is in gear and stationary and you apply the power steering. The engine will die if you are in gear only and you apply the power steering while stationary. It wont do it when in neutral and it will only do it when in open loop. As soon as the car goes in closed loop, the idle is rock solid and it doesnt die no matter what you are doing with the power steering.

Is there a simple way around this as I really havent had any cam experience.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you carried out a RAFIG and RAFPN scan to set your desired air flow?

hi mate. I haven't done either of those. I've never had to before. Is there a tutorial available for carrying them out?

RAFIG / RAFPN turotials can be found ont he forum - take a look at the idle-specific threads for links to them all.

Its a must do when you have fitted a cam, read the forums and fully understand how and why it works as its a major factor in getting a good idle... you will also need to redo it any time you make major changes to the idle like timing and desired idle.
