    Default P0489 question

This is a 2008 6.7 that has had a dpf delete and the guy has done his own tuning and ask me to help him with an issue he is having and I cannot see what is causing it so I told him I would post it here and see if you guys could help.

EGR still intact and EGR tuning still as stock but getting a random P0489 code. I think his valve is sticky occasionally and setting the code. Does this sound likely or probable? That is the only code he is getting.

    Valve sticking is likely IMO.

You're welcome, get a second opinion though.

Does anyone have a solution to this on how to resolve it? Is it a situation of a part needing to be replaced or is there something that can be cleaned or something to prevent sticking? Thanks

It's probably carboned up, take the EGR apart and clean it with brake clean or something similar. When I took mine off, I even had trouble getting the temp probe out of the horn because it was so carboned up it wouldn't back out of the 1/8" hole, and that was with only 10k miles on the truck
