Smoothing in the VE table??

I am noticing that midway between different rpm cells my car has peculiar leaness and richness occurring.

Eg cruising at 1800rpm it is leaner than at 1600 or 2000rpm at any closely corresponding map.

at 2200rpm it is richer than at 2000 or 2400rpm at similar maps.

Also at 6400rpm i have a weird spike of richness happening that the VE adjustments dont seem to be able to get rid of.

Does anyone have explanations or solutions i can try?

highlight the spike on your 3d map and the switch back to the map and observe the cells around the highlghted square. If your values don't increase or at least stay the same you need to make a change. I use smoothing all the time when I am close to finishing a map. It helps to eliminate any drastic changes I might have missed that would cause drivebility problems. and it is easier to smooth the map this way instead of trying to smooth individual squares. Again be mind full of the values before you change them and after you change them. smoothing will lower values that need to be increased if there is one square with an extremely low value in it. I find usefull with spark to eliminate spark changes that can be felt while driving. Good luck!

What does your ve look like dude? Is it nice and smooth flowing, or does it look like a topographic map of nepal?

You can try selecting your whole map and hitting the smooth button a good few times, relog adjust and repeat etc.

Eventually you should get it fairly smooth and it should track better.

The only problem side effect of smoothing in general is that it dulls the low and high points. Not so evident on a VE table but try smoothing a spark table.

It looks nice - in fact the 6400rpm cell start in a little valley that slowly goes upward around it. The 95MAP and 105MAP cells are all similar spacing in the range 5200 to 6800 from the 100map cells. So nothin funny looking in the table to cause this spike.

The only thing is that the 6000rpm cell is higher on the low side and reaches a peak - but this shouldnt cause any problem because its 400rpm earlier.

The low maps and low rpm have some weird values - but its all been logged heaps and is close to spot on - other than the rpm mid way between cells in am talking about.

Yes, that point is out a bit from the cells around. Its pretty much WOT and Max RPM. Whats your injector duty like at that point?
Perhaps your injectors might be less accurate at this "all out" point causing some fluctuations.
You could try selecting the surrounding cells and hammering it with the smooth function.
Did you also log enough in this area for a good sample? You might have to drive in 1st gear on the motorway

I will get some more logging of the spike tommorrow.
DC is about 81% at 6350 then jumps up to say 84% at anything over 6400rpm and then by 6600rpm its back down to 81%. There is also a rich area just as the pulse width jumps up (at just over 6400) and then it comes up to normal by 6600-6700 again.

The pulse-width jumps up as if its not related to the VE table.
