    Default How does my PCM know if I am in Park/Neutral or In Gear? (manual trans)

    I have always wondered about the two columns; 'In Gear' and 'Park/Neutral'. I have different values in each column for some tables such as B5933 (Says, "Base timing used when the Throttle is closed and the vehicle is in park/neutral") B4605 (RPM offset) and other Idle tables. I have a manual transmission and I am not sure which column is being referenced. I also upgraded to an 0411 PCM so I may have missed a few wires.

    IG = clutch engaged
    PN = clutch disengaged

    There is a clutch pedal position (CPP) switch that is read by the PCM.

    I am looking at a 2002 camaro with manual trans has many of these tables zeroed out. Does that mean that they aren't even being used?

    Most of the IG/PN tables are used for the auto trans... but some of them are used for the manual trans...

    goto www.tunefiledepot.com and compare with 2002 Camaro auto trans file.

    Can I copy the camaro idle segment into my L31 tune? I don't like the high idle it has, but the rest of it (Throttle cracker, follower, etc)?

    Sorry to bring up an old thread.

    On a manual should the Park and In gear be the same?

    Surely they should act the same?

    Manual trans car has CPP switch which PCM uses to select IG or PN tables...

    i.e. when clutch pedal is in, PCM selects PN table.

    Not all MT vehicles necessarily used this from the factory.

    Is there a table to check the to know if the clutch is activating it?

    And still even if it is. What is the benifit of them being different.
