Default Computer Crashes when Booting with Flashscan Unit Plugged in

Not a huge issue, but if I try to boot my laptop with the Flashscan V1 unit plugged in I will get the "blue screen of death" about halfway through the boot process. This has happened a dozen times or so. Boots fine after unplugging the Flashscan and trying again, and the Flashscan unit works fine otherwise. Is this a common issue? Any fixes other than remembering to boot without it plugged in?

I'm using a Dell XPS laptop with Windows 7.

    Thanks.

It has to do possibly with the FTDI USB driver.
