Default TIS Technical issue with VIN

Thought to post this here, since GM tech is no help.

I can full reflash an ECM (on the bench) using a new VIN and everything seems to flow smoothly. Without powering down the ECM, if I "check status" with EFILive, the new VIN reads out along with the new OS, Perfect! Now if I power down the ECM and power it back up, and "check status" again, the OLD VIN reappears. ??? The old VIN is still in the calibration window of the tun file also. This is driving me crazy.

I am using Bosch Flasher Pro. Yes, it is updated with latest firmware.

I have noticed this is happening with LLY ECM's and 06-on TCM's. Maybe others also.

When you power down the ECM is there still +12V connected to the battery pin on the ECM?
They need +12V on the battery pin to stay alive when the IGN +12V is switched off, they write the VIN to flash during the power down phase.

How much did you pay for your 'Bosch Flasher Pro'? That looks like a rebadged CarDAQ-Plus

My harness has 2 switches, one for battery and one for ignition. Are you saying that I should emulate what EFILive does (ignition off for 30 seconds)? That did not occur to me. The write process does not seem to segment any instructions this way.

Yes, it is a rebadged Drew Tech piece. More or less the same thing. I gave under $1000 US for it, 2nd hand.

On target Ross, weird that I never picked up on this before. Fixed. Thank you!

I still have another issue with regard to A40-A50 TCM's and TIS. I will enter the VIN of the vehicle I want, and the entire write process appears to go well, nothing stands out as abnormal. But then when I then read out the "new" tune from the TCM, it appears that the entire write routine was based on the VIN that is stored in the TCM (not the one I entered). This has had me really sideways trying to understand what is happening. Since EFILive does not support full flash of these, it has been especially frustrating.
