    Default Read pcm problem

I apologize in advance for my ignorance as I am in the process of learning efilive. I have done a LOT of reading and still have a few questions.
Ill tell you what I've got and then what my questions are to make it simple
    1999 lq4
    Aluminum heads
    Bigger cam
    Heavier valve springs
    4l80e
    Swapped engine/trans into 67 chev.

I am running v7.5 everything is updated properly.

I have tried following the veautotune tutorial and here is my issue. When I follow through the tutorial I get all the way to the point where I read my current tune and try to copy it. I tried multiple times and it tells me the pcm is locked. The truck came out of a stock 2wd 2500 and was never connected to a tuner. Why does it say the pcm is locked? I've read that picking up an 01 pcm is better to tune with as it has more parameters. Would I be better off picking up an 01 pcm and putting a tune on it from tunefiledepot? I saw one on there from a 2000 lq4. Then complete the tune and try to run my truck and adjust what I need to after that to compensate for my cam? Thank you for any info.

I will look tomorrow. I have not tried reading with V8. I was gonna try to learn v7 first then move to 8. My scan tool is as up to date as possible if that's what you mean by build version. Also will check tomorrow. Thank you for the replies! I appreciate the help a lot!!
