Default best year e38 ecm for swap

i am swapping a 2012 truck 6.0 into my 95 6 speed camaro and am wondering what ecm to grab, the local wreckers has a 07 listed for 100$ and 09 for 120$

    also

do these ecm's have the ability to control the ses light directly? also do they have a tach output?

can cruise be made to work?

The best ECM would have been the one that came with the engine
Can you get the ECM the truck would have originally had?

The E38 will do the MIL/SES light directly and can do a Tacho Output as well. Not sure about the cruise as the systems used on the late model vehicle differ a lot from the one your 95 used.

no i cant get it, all i can get it a random 58x truck harness and one of the 2 pcm's listed, wondering if there is any advantage to the newer 20$ more one..

i guess the newer one will run a t56 2010+ camaro os, but the older one should still have a t56 vette os? available..

You need to pair the wiring harness to the ECM, these arent as flexible as the LS1 PCMs. Very doable still, but you have to match your components.

FYI, Im betting a 2010 6L truck engine actually uses the E78 not E38...

Good point, I did not even think of that, on most 6.0L engines from 2010+ they switched to the E78 ECM. Check your wiring harness for the ECM connectors, if there is two you need an E38, if there is three you need an E78.

2012 trucks (I think the 6.0 was only in 2500/3500 that year) with a 6.0 would have been e78. I would say with almost 100% certainty that it would have needed to be the 6.2 gas motor to use the e38. I have no idea why they use the e78 for the 6.0 motor. It's the only truck motor it's used on.

And in true GM fashion - every "rule" has an exception. The 2010+ Suburbans never used the E78 - even when equipped with the L96 6.0L engine.

I am going to assume the 2500 6.0L got the E78 for Hybrid reasons, but, did the 6.0L ever get a Hybrid option? Seems very odd otherwise.

Yes sir ... LZ1 6.0L was a Hybrid offering - but only in light duty trucks. The 2010+ HD trucks (2500 / 3500) were never available with a Hybrid (that I know of) and typically had diesel engines or the L96 6.0L gas engine.
