Default Can Flashscan FSP V1.2 be used with V8 of EFI Live

Do I need to upgrade from my Flashscan FSP V1.2 to something newer in order to use Efi Live V8 or should I just stay with using 7.5. I know have a 2012 2SS that I want to tune instead of my old 2000 SS.

Gen IV controllers use CAN Bus comms ... you need a V2 for these controllers.

2000 SS -> use V1.2 with latest V7 software (that's all you need).

2012 SS -> need V2 with GM tuning option, and both V7 and V8 software, as Taz said V2 supports CAN Bus.

ok thanks I have gotten rid of the 2000 to make way for the 2012 so I guess I have to upgrade then but maybe I can still use the v1.2 with my 03 avalanche

You can still use your V1.2 on an 03 Avalanche, however if you upgrade your V1 to a V2, you save a few hundred $$ (it's $499 for upgrade vs $899 outright) and can transfer your licenses over. I.e. if you tuned your 03 Avalanche with your V1 now, and upgraded to a V2 next week you could transfer the license from the V1 to the V2.

Plus I have been using the scanner to take a look at the pcm but I have been picking ls1b for the controller type. Is that the correct choice for my 03 avalanche?

Yes, LS1B for the 2003 Avalanche.

No. FlashScan V1 cannot use V8 software. But it doesn't need to in order to tune vehicles it supports. FlashScan V1 only requires V7 software. Note: from your other threads, FlashScan V1 and V7 software both support .ctz file formats.

The knowledgebase article on software covers which software is required for which hardware. It is regularly reviewed, and changes were made to ensure the information is current just a few days ago. https://support.efilive.com/kb_artic...5404-IJZV-0820

There is also a similar article on the downloads page of our website, below the big icons, and just below the Pre-Release link that explains the differences between the softwares. This information could do with an update to explain the software requirements better. I will update this article next week and link it to the knowledge base article. http://www.efilive.com/latest/cat/download-efilive.
