Well there isn't much we can do about stopping that process.

Just because there is no DPF doesn't mean you will get smoke, GM and FORD sell new Diesel's over here in Australia without a DPF.
On the flip side of that many tuners in the USA are making great power on the LML with all emissions in place, they just had to think outside the square when it came to tuning.
As for the original poster in this thread, there's why nobody does smoke tunes now, might have been cool 10 years ago, not now.

I know this^ my DPF has over 120k on it. It was starting to plug up. I don't feel comfortable running 450+whp with it still in place. One thing about it, it does knock all the diesel exhaust smell out. That's real nice when you have a wife and kids.
I actually miss the totally smokeless, stock, DPF exhaust... I hate when I have to hit the throttle hard and it throws a big puff.... Of course though, I don't miss the stock power though!!
1995 GMC 2500 SUBURBAN powered by 01 DURAMAX/ALLISON, little of this, a little of that,
DIAMONDEYE 4" exhaust, CORSA muffler, AFE stage 1 dry filter, custom tuning by me, KENNEDY single pump and pump rub kit.
