    Default 01-07 "4x4 Option" cax

I found an old .cax file for the 4x4 Options. It was created by CC + M. I am assuming M is Mick. I don't know who CC is. Anyway---I take NO credit for
this. All I did was update it a bit and add this parameter for other years of LS1b PCM Operating Systems.
These "4x4 Options" .cax files are for the 2001-2007 LS1b PCMs. After these are installed you will find the parameter B9103. These .cax files allow
you to set the "4x4 Options" to 2wd or 4wd. This may come in handy for retrofit projects. I'm sure I don't have all of the operating systems covered
for those years but there are a total of 19 operating systems covered in these 7 .cax files. I didn't make any for the 1999 and 2000. I feel it is too
easy to upgrade those to the better 2002 operating system. Follow the directions in GMPX's sticky about .cax files for where to install them into the
software. Remember, If you already have .cax files that cover these O/S, you will have to add the contents of these into those folders. If you don't
already have any .cax files for these O/S, you will have to make duplicate copies of them and name them the number of the O/S that they correspond to.

Hhmmm, I think you found an error on my part. Open that 12587604.cax and change the address to 196E4.
I will update the zip file if I can figure out how.

Why not just start with the correct base file? (2wd or 4wd)

I completely agree with that. That is what I prefer whenever possible.

PS: I am in the process of trying to get the zip deleted so that the correct info can be posted.

400ss ... when using a *.cax file (whether written by you personally, or someone else) one of the main quality assurance checks is your own brain.

When you opened the "B9103" parameter for the first time, if written correctly, it should have displayed "2wd". In the screen-shot you posted it displayed "<4>".

This should have immediately indicated to you that something was wrong / incorrect.

You got lucky this time. The parameter at 196B4 is the Reverse Lockout Speed (reverse inhibit with a manual transmission). It would have originally had a value of 1024 ($0400) which corresponds to a speed of 8 MPH. By applying the "2wd" button in B9103, you simply set this parameter to 0 MPH.

The new address supplied by Lextech (196E4) appears correct - although I have never tested this proposed change to a GTO OS in a running vehicle.

    Regards,
    Taz
