Is it possible to run LS2 58x reluctor with LS1 computer???

Hello,
Tried searching...sorry if I missed it somewhere, but is it possible to run an LS2 using stock 58x reluctor with an LS1 computer? I found on another site that there was an "edit" on EFILive site. I have a V1...so it would be a great help if I could do this without having to upgrade to V2. Would rather not change reluctor in case in the future I decide to upgrade either computer or Flashscan. Thanks in advance for everyones help!

The LS1 PCM cannot decode the 58x signal, you would have to use the Lingenfelter box as the previous poster suggested.

And the tip is to ensure you get a second generation converter that has its own power leads. The first generation units drew power from the crank sensor 5V suply and in hot weather, would over heat the driver inside the PCM, causing it to shut down. The second gen units have a separate power supply and do not suffer this issue.

Thanks! I am aware of the Lindenfelter boxes...forgot to state that. I figure someone knows how they are doing it...that is what I am looking! I am running a 6 speed, not sure what the reference to a converter has to do with things...can you clarify?

Anyone one know what is in the black box????? How do they do it?

The Lingenfelter box is an "electrical pulse converter" that takes the 58X signal from the GEN-IV motor and "converts" it to a 24X signal for use with an LS1 computer. From memory it also converts the 4X cam signal to also work with the LS1 computer.

How do they do it? Very well...... and I doubt that it's just a multiple by 11 then divide by 29. The reluctor signal has a special "sync" pulse to indicate TDC #1

The 24x CKP signal is encoded, each 90 degree sector of the CKP reluctor has a unique numeric sequence;

( the PCM must see the correct numeric sequence or it will think the engine is running backwards )

as swingtan said, it's not a straight mathematical conversion.
