    Default ECM Locked

Truck is a 04, been running some tunes from a well known tuner and just ran into some issues. Wanted to change the tire size in the tuning so I adjust it in the tune file I was sent and tried loading it in, every time is says the ecm is locked. Tried in v7.5 and v8 no dice with either. Have pulled fuses, disconnected the batteries, changed the sequence I plug everything in everything I could think of. Firmware and bootblock are all up to date. Finally got some info off the ecm and this is what it says:

    VIN ý7÷ûÕˆ $***
    )Ä$
    Serial 00000040N000
    Hardware 3755933407
    Operating System 03904405
    Calibration 2151678016
    BCC 'éwW
    Operating System 03904405
    Engine Calibration 15189053
    Engine Diagnostics 15100899
    Fuel System 15076354
    System 15076385
    Speedometer 15076392

Not sure how the vin and serial number got scrambled like that. I went into the v7.5 and was able to change the vin on the ecm but not the serial number. Now when I do a readiness test it shows the correct vin, wrong serial and still says locked. After that I tried loading the tune file again for the heck of it and same thing. This is what it shows when trying to do a full flash:

The truck starts runs and drives fine so I cant believe the ECM is actually junk. Any suggestions would be great, Have 7 or 8 hours into this and not much has changed.

Thinking back over the history of tunes, have you always been basing it off the same base tune in the truck or have you been flashing in different files from multiple sources?

That is a sign the ECM has corrupted itself, the same thing happens with certain TIS2WEB flashes, but why it has happened here I don't know.

I originally used a tune off of the diesel place to try out efi live, ran that for about 2 years. Then I bought a dsp5 tune 2 years ago which was based off my stock tune, that loaded no problem and haven't touched it since. No other device has touched the truck including a tech 2 I believe its call.

Ah ok, so this is the first time in a few years you've tried to retune the ECM? In other words, two years ago it was fine, you now did nothing more than try to flash it and the VIN etc is all messed up?

That is correct. Haven't had a need to touch it. Truck ran, and still does run great. Just wanted to change the tire size and found this. Say it is corrupt, does that mean its junk or can I send it in to a tuner or possibly bring it somewhere to have it fixed and retuned?

Matter of fact only things I added since then was a lift pump and a edge cs monitor, both of which I also completely unplugged in case either had something to do with it.

It is an unfortunate thing with the LB7 ECM, they do this and it is not recoverable via OBD-II. SoCal Diesel do offer a restoration service on them, maybe contact them and talk about the next step.

Before you do sometimes when they corrupt themselves they mirror the unlock code, try entering in $77BD as the unlock Key, it might work.

That's a shame. And a new license wouldn't do the trick? I did try the $77bd for a key and it didn't work. I will call so cal tomorrow see what they say. That isn't something any tuner can do?

Also like I was saying before the only reason I was messing with it is to change the tire size. It was programmed for 295/70/17 and I put 285/65/18 on it. Will that only mess with the speedo or are the shifts going to be no good also? If it will be fine I just assume leave it alone for now.

Shift points will be the same regardless of tire size, just your speedo will be off.
