Default Need to replace RJ12 jack for WB Serial

EFI Live folks, I appear to have broken my RJ12 jack in a freak accident and need to replace it. I'm quite handy with a soldering iron so was curious, are the jacks that solder to the board just a standard piece you can buy from Jaycar/Farnell (Australia) or are they made specifically for the FSv2 casing which means do you guys at EFI Live keep spares and am I able to flick you guys a couple of bucks for a replacement. Or do you guys at EFI Live have a repair service if I sent the unit to you? What's the easiest option? Unit is a couple of years old now so is well out of warranty....

    Cheers!
    Kris

If you can solder, then the quickest and cheapest option is to replace the jack yourself.

Yeah no probs there. Just need to know where to get a replacement as I got the busted one out and jaycar here doesn't sell the same Jack.

Try contacting SoCal Diesel, they handle FlashScan and AutoCal repairs.

To answer that question, no they are not specially made connectors. They are "off the shelf" components. However right now (Sunday night) I don't have the part number or supplier name to help you track down a suitable replacement. Send me an email tomorrow (paul@efilive.com) to remind me and I'll try and track down where you can source a replacement part.

    Regards

Paul: Will do. Thanks for that, i'm glad they're not made specifically for you guys. I might need to replace the RJ45 as it wont hold the cable in and I just use a couple of rubber bands at the moment so might end up replacing it while i'm at it.

Statesman: Will do, the nearest Dick Smiths near me are more interested in selling you a TV or cordless phone than true electrical componentry....

Joecar: Yep, sydney metro. More hills district but work in the CBD.

    Cheers!

Hey Kris, if you havent already fixed your V2...
If you can get an extended meal break then duck out to David Reid Electronics, 127 York Street. - 9267 1385 (Just behind the QVB)
Back in the day these guys stocked everything that I could ever want/need as far as hard to find components and tools.
I know that they are now owned by DSE/Woolworths, but still operate independently AFAIK and last I checked they were stocking all of the Altronics stuff.
I'd wager they'll have what you need mate.

    Good Luck
