Looking at the two maf sensors they are almost physically the same size apart from length. Is there really any great advantage in airflow between the two? Does the VE maf maybe record a lower Hz for the same airflow?

It's all good until it goes "Bang"
The longer of the two MAF sensors appears to be bigger---At least on the outside. That means the inside "should" be bigger and flow more air. How much more air, I don't know. I would say your MAF tables would definitely need to be touched up after that install.
