MAF lbs/min or lbs/hour?

How would your rather view intake air flow when measured using imperial units? Pounds per hour or pounds per minute.
(Metric units for air flow are measured grams per second.)

EFILive originally displayed airflow in lbs/min. That was changed to lbs/hour to bring the absolute values (and hence the number of decimal places to be displayed) closer to the grams/second metric values.
i.e. for most normally aspirated LS1 intake airflow:
- grams per second range from 0 to 400
- lbs/hour range from 0 to 4000
- lbs/min range from 0 to 66
both grams/sec and lbs/hour can be represented as whole numbers. lbs/min requires one or two decimal places.

I used lbs/min for years and know the numbers at different
conditions off the top of my head - going to lbs/hour now requires
dividing by 60. Flow of 2400 lbs/hour is 40lbs/min which is right around
the top number I get with the stock MAF and stock MAF calibaration
in the PCM (peak might be around 41 lbs/h).

Guess I need to do some more canvasing of what people really want instead of what "works best on paper".

Even with just a few votes cast, it looks like people want lbs/min.

Honestly, I'm not sure if it really matters what units the MAF Pid has for anything important. It's just something we're used to from previous versions of your fine product.

On second thought, I wonder if you should leave it the way it is and add a calc PID of lb/hr/60 to satisfy those who want it the old way.

Nah, not mad at anyone. Just trying to understand why the units were changed and see if they could be changed back.

I don't agree that lbs/hr is a more common measurement for MAF airflow, at least not in the automotive field. I don't know if I've ever seen those units used for MAF airflow actually. Can you give examples for my own curiosity of where lbs/hr is used?

I know turbo maps give airflow in lb/min. Just about every reference I've ever seen on MAF airflow is either in g/s or lb/min.

The most common use of lb/hr units is for fuel flow from what I've experienced.

Maybe the people who want lbs/hr could make a calculated pid.

Ahhhhhh!!!!! Pounds per minute please!

I've been all over every setting in the V7 software recently trying to figure out why the imperial is set to pounds/hr and looking for the switch to set it back to pounds/minute. The hour value is so foriegn to me that I've set it to grams/sec just so I'm not thinking "divide that by 60" every time I see the number.

After using V5 and V6 for a while now, I'm really very accustomed to the per minute setting. I agree with the above post, instead of making the standard PID change from minute to hour, there should be an added calculated PID for those who want to see it in pounds/hr.

I'm going to have to vote for lb/min, as well. I'm more accustomed to it, and I like the idea of the inlcluded calculated PID to get the lb/hr value if we want or need it. Please change it back.
