turning off 02 while tuning
Is there any disadvantage to turning off a front o2 and installing the wideband there and tuning the car then turning the o2 back on when done and just check the o2 to make sure its working right. I had a car the other day with no where to put the wideband since they had cats and coated headers. I just turned off the o2 in the tune and tuned the car and then turned eveything back on when I was done. I would only use this as a last resort but it seemed to work fine.
I do this all the time. I would remove the other o2 as well and plug the hole. JMO
Sometimes that is easier said than done. You would think all o2 would be easy to get to. Isn't there a pid to log to check open and closed loop. I swore I saw one for that.
The fuel system pid that's selected for the default dash board will show open vs closed loop. Turning off the B1 NBO2's is as simple as changing your closed loop enable temps to 256*F. They'll still function as normal, but the PCM will ignore them. Install your WBO2 in the one that's easiest to get to, finish prepping the PCM for tuning (DFCO off, MAF off, Spark HI-to-LOW, tweak OL fueling, disable PE, etc.) and go log.
