$0340 error

Tried flashing a 09 c&c, receiving a $0340 code. Truck in no start condition. Suspect a dead ecm. Any way to know for sure?

Probably a protected ECM....see here.

If you can reflash the stock tune back in then that is your problem.

Can I use the base tune I read out of the truck? In v7.5 it says ok to flash but in v8 it says DO NOT FLASH.

As suggested you need to update all your software, from memory the DO NOT FLASH warning was removed from later versions of the software. The tune you read out of the ECM before patching it will be fine to use once the ECM is patched.
