    Default COS Tutorial question...

I am having a hard time with page 10 of the Custom OS Upgrade Tutorial where as the MAP climbs, the lambda is leaned???? Shouldn't it be richened instead?? Also in the AutoVE tutorial as well, lambda leaner than 1 (14.68AFR) are indicated using as lean as 1.17 in the 100 kpa column....that just doesn't seem correct. What am I missing???
The AutoVE tutorial page 7 says that if my calibration is displayed in lambda, fill in as shown, and if in AFR fill in accordingly however the lambda once again is leaned in higher MAP pressures while the AFR calibrations are richened in the higher MAP pressures.

...OK EQ ratio ... got it! Does it matter which value; Lambda, EQ ratio, AFR, is used in the tables such as B3647?

    Hi Bruce,

I would rather you used EQR for commanded fuel and Lambda for wideband measurement...

this "convention" avoids confusion during discussions, and it makes the BEN pid simpler (BEN = commanded_EQR * wideband_Lambda)

(simpler as in you don't have to remember which is numerator and which is denominator).

Thank's Joe, I appreciate your time and explanation. The more I learn, the luckier I realize I am for not melting my engine w/ ignorant/lazy tuning, and how forgiving the COS has been set up by Efilive for sloths like me. I've taken the winter to read ALL EFILive material and purchased/read (2) ebooks; "Engine Management Advanced Tuning" and "How to Use and Upgrade to GM Gen III Powertrain Controller" which helped me also incorporate my dual fans through the '411 and got rid of the thermostats with the pigtail senders stuck into the radiator. Tons of great info!!

Joe, on post #38 from your Summary-Notes thread, in regards to logging for AutoVE you indicate modifying the BEN pid, evidently this is still recommended (hasn't been included in updates)? I'm working with AutoVE logging now. I don't see how to modify the pid equation yet to modify the BEN to "WO2BEN = {GM.EQIVRATIO}*{CALC.AFR_LC11}/14.7" equation yet...

Post your V7 calc_pids.txt file here, I'll edit it.

Do you have FlashScan V1 or V2...?

    You have an LC-1...?

Joe, I have the V1 and LM-1. I think I have attached the file you asked for, from User Config? Thanks for your help!

    Bruce,

Is your LM-1 programmed with the default LM-1 AFR-to-V curve, or is it programmed with the one from the LC-1...?

I'm sure it would be the default curve as I have never re-programmed and didn't know I could until your last post! I will stick with the LM-1 default for now.
