$450 Cummings activation code needed?

I just found a deal on a 2010 3500 Cummings. I have a V2 flashscan for GM with the BB 2.07.07 & Firmware 2.07.64.
My question is- Can I scan the dodge as is or do I need to purchase the $450 hardware activation (upgrade) code?
I don't need to do any tuning, just want to check for DTC's and monitor a few PID's before buying the truck.

You can scan without the activation code. It's just for tuning.
