    Default HELP! Identify this ECM!!!

No idea what this thing is. It was sent to me with a Duramax harness for standalone conversion...it wouldnt power up or read on my bench harness, so I took a closer look and its definitely not an E60/LLY Duramax ECM.

So then I thought OK its probably an E40 or P12. Nope its not an E40/P12 either...look at the missing pins on the connectors. I looked up the GM diagrams, and all of those "missing" pins on this ECM correspond to something important on the E40/P12 cars I looked up. (IE, some of the missing pins on this mystery ECM correspond to throttle pedal circuits, ignition +12v power on E40/P12 cars).

Is it some sort of Delphi MEFI controller? I dont think so because those look like E67's, not E40/P12/E60-LLY.

The only numbers on it are printed on one of the fins. 12234145.....0623...FA02004. Tried googling those numbers, nothing.

No sticker on the back. Im stumped. What else could it be?

Compared to my E40 stuff here and its very different. How does the harness look pin wise? What was supposed to be supplied? I have seen some different stuff when dealing with Jet Boat harnesses and ECMs.

It came with an LLY Duramax harness that I was working on for a customer. The harness is a regular old LLY Duramax harness. Nothing special.

I have an email into the customer asking him where he got the ECM. Because its sure as hell not a Duramax LLY ECM.

    Ben,

Try media blasting the ECM - especially in the highlighted area in the JPEG attached below. I don't know anything about Diesels - but gas ECM's usually have a very small casting that denotes them as "E38" or "E67". The casting is usually on the main ECM body - not on the fins - but rather between the fins.

No idea sorry, without the sticker on the back or the stamp underneath it might remain a mystery forever. Perhaps it is a P05 from the V6 line around 2004-2006 ish, but I am sure they have P05 stamped underneath.

Bingo! I think you're exactly right Ross.

I looked up the schematics and connector pinouts for a V6 car from 04-06, and sure enough it seemed to match. (the missing pins on the connectors of this mystery ECM corresponded with "not used/unavailable" on the GM connector pinouts)

Its certainly not an E40, P12, or E60/LLY....so its gotta be a P05, unless theres another GM that uses the same case.

    Thanks for the help!

I can tell you a funny story about the P05's and Jesse Bubb.....because to a wrecking yard they all look the same
