Default Problem with Tahoe - can EFILive scan it?

    Hi,

I just got a call from a friend who has a 2001 Tahoe that's got some problems ... it started out with the key fob that stopped working. Of course then the car wouldn't start due to theft prevention (most likely). Trying to re-learn the fob doesn't work either. So now he got the info that he would need to read some value from the PCM and use the rear fog light switch or something to disable the alarm etc., but to get this value, he was told he'd need a Tech2 scanner, no other device would be able to get that value. Of course - being in Germany - the local Opel/GM dealers only have scanners available for the European models ...
Before I send my EFILive scanner to him I was wondering if anybody knows more detailed info what is necessary, and whether my scanner can get the required code?

    Thanks, Garry

I think he is probably having a problem with the BCM (body control module)... I do not think that the EFILive scantool will help, he needs a scantool that can scan the BCM and other modules.
