    Default E38 12635863 help

I am no expert when it comes to the E38s, but I have had success with running them stand alone a couple times in the past. This one is giving me fits though. Can someone tell me why this tune won't fire the engine?

    2010 Camaro LS3 Manual trans E38 Modified.ctz

This started life as a low mileage ecm from a wrecked 2010 camaro, like I said, 12635863 OS. Manual trans. I made the vats changes and applied patchs that I think are right, and tried a couple other things as well, can't get it to fire stand alone for the swap.

I have another stand alone ecm here with an automatic 12635863 OS file that was tuned by a buddy with HP, I can connect it to the harness and the engine fires right up. So my next step was to copy that file and put it in my e38. Using this tune in my e38 the engine will fire but after a few seconds puts up a p0606 code and goes into limp mode killing the electronic pedal. But for the life of me I cannot get the original 12635863 manual trans file to fire in its original ecm. I've tried vats 2 and 3 with no change. Do I need to put ground or 12v+ to a pin beings this is a manual?

As we dont know how the wiring in this engine is in, it could be a few things. If it's a swap, I'd look at G1220 and make sure that aligns with your setup. Also, for the VATS stuff, did you happen to try a full flash after changing these values?

The wiring is hand built by myself, all new delphi components. I've built dozens of gen 3 harness and a handful of gen 4 harnesses, but for some reason I cannot get this one set up right. The harness is fine, using my buddies ecm with the automatic file in it the harness will run the engine fine on my runstand. All the sensors are reading correctly (MAF, ECT, IAC, etc etc) and when I put that automatic tune into MY e38 it will fire up but quickly throws a p0606 code killing the elec pedal. Now that I think about it the gen 4 harnesses that I've built to this point were either automatics or vette manual setups (2008, 2009 LS3s). I don't think I have ever done a camaro manual trans e38 before this one. I currently DO NOT have anything connected as far as a clutch signal or anything like that. The vettes haven't needed them, does this camaro file need to see that info? I thought I had it all adequately turned off in the file.

Maybe I should be looking for a manual trans vette ls3 file to modify. Does anyone have stock file they would mind sharing for a 12635863 OS?

Thank you sir! but no luck. The manual trans camaro files must need another input or something that I have overlooked. I hear talk of an X1 pin needing a resisted voltage applied to it. I need to research more. The manual trans vette files that I've swapped in the past didn't need it, but maybe the camaros do???

I found this on another forum. Sounds like the 2010 camaro file is just problematic for swaps. Can anybody add any detail or further info to this?

"I thought i would share some E38 PCM info that may or may not have been covered already to save the next guy the misery i went thru with a customers car. We retrofitted an LS3 into a 66 nova and based the system off of 2010 camaro components with a 2010 corvette gas pedal all supplied from the oufit that sells me custom wiring harnesses.

Its been covered before but do NOT flash a 2007-2008 E38 with a 2009-2010 OP system or it will corrupt the PCM and render it useless. NVRAM corrupts???

Avoid reflashing a PCM with a 2010 Camaro OP system unless the PCM actually started life as 2010 camaro. It has its own P/N on the E38 and is the bastard child of the E38's. Flashing a similar year E38 with 2010 camaro results in unfixable throttle issues and a dead pedal after about 5 jabs and plugging in TAC calibrations from any other model will NOT solve the issue. Avoid 2010 camaro OP system on a non stock reflash at all costs.

On my 2010 camaro based harness, any OP system besides 2010 corvette or camaro would result in a VSS reading of 158 mph and was also unfixable. The solution to my dilemma was to follow the recommendation of a local GM tech and flash my 2010 silverado based PCM to 2010 corvette OP system and it all worked flawless.

Even attempting to rewrite the throttle axis tables to remove the rather lazy corvette programming resulted in throttle blowout so to avoid headaches, use the TAC programming the OP system came with. Im sure there is more to this story that other can feel free to add to this info but this is a good start to understanding the damn E38."

I knew it would be something simple! G1220 was NOT set to "not used". I overlooked it. Changed that and it fired right up.

Great to hear, was this with the original tune you posted originally?

Yes, I used the original 2010 manual camaro file, worked great once I adjusted g1220.
